We emailed in advance to make a reservation and advised that we were looking at Quinta do Arneiro for dinner for a large party! It was raining when we arrived…but the weather much better at our wedding party (see the top photo!).

After everyone’s tubs of grapes had been loaded onto trucks, kids were welcomed into the winery to tread grapes and enjoy an early children’s meal.

Though it lies within 90 minutes’ drive from our house, Quinta do Gradil first came on our radar as a quinta to know through a company in California called Naked Wines. If you want a bigger supermarket, there are all the big ones in Malveira, oito minutes away, as well as many restaurants. Mafra is just 15 minutes away too. The beautiful Ericeira and its beaches are 20 minutes away if you want to enjoy the coast. If you want to go for a walk to Lisbon or Sintra, they are only 30 minutes away so you can wander around to your heart's content :)...
